Leading Healthcare Companies Form Interstate Alliance

By   |  April 14, 2014

While we are seeing major changes in our national healthcare system, many changes are also taking place in regional and state healthcare systems.

Recently, seven of the nation's leading health systems in the Northeast announced the launch of an interstate health alliance. This alliance, to be known as "AllSpire Health Partners", will combine the resources of the seven regional systems, establishing new standards in research, patient education and care management.

AllSpire Health Partners will consist of seven nationally-ranked health care systems in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The partnership brings together 25 hospitals, and more than 20 specialty practices. The formation of the alliance is an unprecedented effort to change the face of health care for communities throughout the Northeast.

The consortium will also bring in an estimated combined revenue of $10,500,000,000 making it the largest consortium in the United States. With the costs of healthcare in this country still a huge concern for millions of Americans, the consortium also plans to address these concerns with jointly-developed affordable care plans, to benefit patients throughout the region.

Hospitals which make up AllSpire Health Partners include Atlantic Health System in Morristown, NJ; Hackensack University Health Network in Hackensack, NJ; Lancaster General Health in Lancaster, PA; Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA; Meridian Health in Neptune, NJ; Reading Health System in Reading, PA; and WellSpan Health in York, PA.

"We've come together to demonstrate our leadership of a cultural shift in the healthcare industry one anchored by our individual clinical excellence, but ushering in a new spirit of partnership and collaboration," said Robert C. Garrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hackensack University Health Network, through a press release. "Together we will not only share learning that improve outcomes, but also lower the cost of care to our communities."
