Frequently Asked Questions
- I Want a Custom-Looking Website. Can I Modify My Design?
Yes. Dr. Leonardo PRACTICE-Sites feature dozens of high-resolution photographs for use as animated images on your Home Page. There are more than 6,000 dental, medical and veterinary photos and clinical illustrations to use to customize the interior pages of your website. Plus, you can upload your own images too.
- What Happens When I Want a New Website Design? Will I Have to Rebuild My Site?
Dr. Leonardo PRACTICE-Sites feature more than 1,000 different design layouts with an average of 18 unique themes for each healthcare specialty. There’s no need to rebuild your website since you can change your design at any time with a simple click of a button. New advances in technology, such as responsive mobile designs, are available to you without having to rebuild your entire website.
- Why Do I Need a PROVIDER-Site when Information About Me is on Healthgrades, Vitals, and other Provider-Directories?
Provider-directories actively encourage their visitors to compare you against as many as nine (9) other providers in the same specialty and who may be located nearby. Your patients can easily become distracted by visiting these other provider profiles and schedule appointments with competing providers. Provider-directories also limit the information that can edited and presented so you typically cannot change colors, background photos or edit any of the healthcare content within a directory profile.
A Dr. Leonardo PROVIDER-Site is your personal website, so you have complete control over its appearance and content.
- How Does a PROVIDER-Site Rank at the Top of Search Engine Results for My Name?
While a good portion of this answer is contained within the ‘Secret-Sauce’ of our coding, Dr. Leonardo PROVIDER-Sites connect your name directly with the content on your website. This enables search engines to pair queries of your name and professional title with the clinical conditions you treat, the insurance plans you accept, etc. When combined with your name registered as the website’s domain, your PROVIDER-Site has tremendous relevant authority, and will typically rank above other websites when patients search for you by name.
- Does my PROVIDER-Site Benefit my Practice, Hospital or Healthcare Network Website?
Yes, and in many ways! Dr. Leonardo PROVIDER-Sites can expand the reach of your main website by providing additional entry points for self-scheduling, patient portal connectivity, office forms, etc. By way of example, a large real-estate company built individual websites for each of its 900 agents and quickly saw a 750% increase in page views to its corporate website along with a 343% increase in web traffic. In short, by linking back to your main website, PROVIDER-Sites multiply the visibility of your web presence exponentially.
- Does Having a PROVIDER-Site for Myself Have a Negative Effect with Search Engines on the ranking of my Practice, Hospital or Healthcare Network Website?
No. Dr. Leonardo PROVIDER-Sites target search engines to index you by your personal name. Consider your PROVIDER-Site in a similar way as your personal Facebook page or LinkedIn profile. Your personal name is its own separate ‘brand’ apart from your practice, hospital or healthcare network’s name, so they don’t conflict with one another.
- Can I connect my PROVIDER-Site with Google My Business and Bing Places?
Yes. You can set up your Google My Business account with a direct link to your Dr. Leonardo PROVIDER-Site. If you join or move to another practice/clinic or hospital network, you can update your Google My Business information and your PROVIDER-Site accordingly.
- I Already Registered a Domain in the Past. Can I Use That Domain?
Yes. Although we make the process of registering a new domain very easy with competitive pricing, you are not required to purchase a domain through Dr. Leonardo. To optimally index your Dr. Leonardo PROVIDER-Site with search engines, the domain name should feature your full name as a component of the domain, i.e. JohnSmith.com. or JohnSmithMD.com.
- What if My Name is Already Registered by Someone Else? Will it Affect Rankings in Search Engines?
Optimally, we all would like to register our own name as a .COM extension, but sometimes that domain is already taken. There are many domain extensions -- .NET, .ME, even .DENTIST and .VET are available extensions (though some boutique extensions cost a little more). Additionally, you can add your professional title to a domain, such as JohnSmithDDS, or include dashes between your first and last name, i.e. John-Smith.com.
Most important is that your first and last name is part of the domain – it’s an important part of getting your Dr. Leonardo PROVIDER-Site indexed for searches on your personal name.
- Does a Dr. Leonardo Website Cause Problems with Search Engines with Duplicate Content?
No. Here's why:
First, the primary goal of Google, Yahoo! and Bing is to answer a visitor’s search query. Because your Dr.Leonardo website contains extensive patient education information, search engines it consider it a highly authoritative source to answer health-related questions posed by patients.
Second, unlike other companies that offer static patient education materials, Dr. Leonardo content resides on your individual website. You may edit and modify this content, add to it or remove anything you wish. This creates a custom presentation unique to your website. You can even edit content to add your individual name, practice name, locations, etc. to further enhance the search engine optimization that already is featured as part of a Dr. Leonardo website.
Lastly, when it comes to search, 'duplicate content' is guaranteed to outperform 'no content' at all.
- Can an Outside Agency Perform Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Services?
Yes. Dr. Leonardo has partnerships with various companies including outside digital marketing agencies, but you can also provide access to your own agency if you prefer. It is important to note that outside agencies can only work within the functional scope of the Dr. Leonardo platform, so FTP (File Transfer Protocol) access is generally prohibited.
- Can I Use the Patient Education Content, Photography and Illustrations in Other Areas of My Practice (Brochures, Posters, Mailings, etc.)?
Unfortunately, no. Dr. Leonardo websites and materials are registered with the United States Copyright Office and can only be used on a Dr. Leonardo website with an active subscription. This includes all patient education content and images.
- Can I Host my Dr. Leonardo Website with Another Company?
No. You can do many things with your Dr. Leonardo website, but it must reside on our servers as part of an active subscription, and it will not work correctly elsewhere.
- Who Owns My Domain Name?
You do. When you purchase a domain registration, you have complete control over the information for the Registrant and Administrative Contacts. Dr. Leonardo’s information is limited to the Technical Contact in order to set the domain to our webservers. Dr. Leonardo uses ENOM as the domain registrar.
- Can I Have Email Associated with My Website and Domain?
Dr. Leonardo partners with ENGUARD to offer secure email that is HIPAA-compliant. Information and pricing is available on our Additional Services page.
- Do I Have to Sign a Long-Term Contract?
